Backups that get you shipping again
If your ERP server died this afternoon, how long until you could print a packing slip? Most owners don't know, and "we have backups" usually means nobody has tried a restore. We make sure the answer is a number you're comfortable with.
What we back up
- Servers — a business continuity device on site takes full image backups, so we can bring a whole server back, not just files. A local copy for fast restores and an off-site copy in case the building has a bad day.
- Microsoft 365 — email, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams. Microsoft keeps the service running; it doesn't promise to get back an email or file once its recycle bin has emptied. We add SaaS backup so we can.
- Workstations — endpoint backup for engineering and CAD workstations, or any PC that would be painful to rebuild.
We test restores
A backup you haven't restored is a guess. Every server backup is boot-checked automatically with screenshot verification, and we run test restores (servers booted, Microsoft 365 files and mailboxes restored) and keep a record you can show your insurer or auditor.
Every server backup is boot-tested at least once a day
The backup appliance automatically starts a copy of your server and checks for the login screen. If a test fails, our team is notified.
Tested backups are one of the controls insurers ask about. See cybersecurity and insurance readiness.
A recovery plan on one page
We write down what gets restored first, who to call, and how long each step takes. Production systems first, then email, then everything else. When something goes wrong, nobody has to figure it out at 2 a.m.
Backups are part of our managed IT for manufacturers.
